The Normal Grain Extover is suitable for broad applications such as preventive fire protection for lithium batteries during storage and transport, and as a general extinguishing agent for Class D (metal) and lithium-ion fires. It is also used as an additive in construction materials like lightweight concrete and insulation.
When applied, Extover granules cover the fire load, displacing oxygen and cutting off the reaction with fuel. Like glass, the material melts at high temperatures, absorbing large amounts of heat and creating an impermeable barrier over the burning source. This not only cools the fire but also prevents re-ignition. Thanks to its porous structure, Extover also binds liquids, gases, and vapors, making disposal safer and easier.
Which grain size is best for my purposes?
If you need an all-around fire-suppression media that’s lightweight, versatile, and effective for most applications, choose Normal Grain Extover (0.25–2.0 mm). If you’re specifically targeting lithium battery fires or an especially reactive DDR battery, the Ultra-Fine grain (0.04–0.125 mm and 0.25–0.5 mm) provides superior coverage and faster smothering by filling air gaps more completely.
